Goalkeeper Glove Size – Measuring Your Hands

  • Goalkeeper gloves should be worn 1″ to 1.5″ longer than the length of your fingers
  • Larger gloves provide increased ball blocking ability and grip

To determine your glove size:

  • Measure the circumference of the widest part of the palm
  • Do not include the thumb
  • Round this number up to the next highest inch, and then add 1″ to the measurement

  • If your palm (excluding the thumb) measures 6 and 3/4″, round that number up to 7″
  • Add 1″ to the measurement, which gives you 8″
  • So, a 6 and 3/4″ palm measurement would require an 8″ glove

  • Measure both hands and use the measurements of the larger hand
  • Goalie gloves should be 1″ to 1.5 inches longer than the fingers, the reason for this is that goalies want to put as big a hand as possible in front of the ball, so longer glove fingers means it’s easier to block the ball. It’s for this same reason that finger protectors are put into goalie gloves, because with the gloves being longer than the fingers, fingers can more easily get broken
  • Goalie gloves are not intended to fit like other gloves
